Motoring
Motoring law is a subject within a subject. We use every thing we know about the criminal courts and procedure and build on this with a wealth of experience in road traffic law. As a result we are able to offer quick but effective advice.
The law looks to convict the guilty and acquit the innocent so the subject of loopholes is now mainly history. This does not mean that the law will not do every thing possible to protect the rights of the individual when they are infringed by the state. Drivers are called upon to co-operate with the police in ways that may be to their detriment such as providing the identity of the driver going through a speed camera or a giving a specimen of breath for analysis in a drink drive case. The law protects the motorist against many forms of improper demand. The skill is knowing what the extent of the polices, powers and the individual’s rights are.
If things are against you and you have to plead guilty then our next objective is to ensure you receive the least harmful sentence. Courts operate within guidelines but often have some form of discretion in the sentence they impose and we will ensure your case is presented to help the court exercise their discretion in your favor whenever possible.
Our experience allows us to give initial advice quickly and at a reasonable cost. If we do not believe there is anything we can do to help you we will tell you, we do not believe you need any unnecessary expense when there is a fine and prosecution costs to pay. If we believe we are able to do something that may have a positive effect on the outcome of your case then we will agree with you a course of action that fits your case and your budget. This may be simply writing a letter to the court which gets across the points which will help you or may extend to attending court with you and conducting your case.
We are able to meet clients at our offices, in court or even at your office if it is more convenient. In some cases we are able to offer a ‘fixed fee’ so you will know exactly how much your case will cost to defend from the start. If a fixed fee is not practicable then we will provide you with an estimate as to costs appropriate for the case and level of representation you have chosen.
Corporate packages are also available under which we are able to provide advice to any member of the corporate client without further charge for the duration of the contract. Companies may use this just to cover work related driving problems or extend the package to all the employees motoring law worries as part of a staff benefit package. If your key employees effectiveness relies upon their ability to drive, knowing they have access to immediate help can give real peace of mind. We also offer preferential corporate rates for any work that follows on from the initial advice.
