Usmani King offers a comprehensive service in all areas of criminal law. We under take both privately and publicly funded work. Legal aid may be available to you dependant upon both your financial circumstances and the details of your case. We will be happy to talk to you to see if public funding is available and if it is not we will be able to give you an estimate as to how much your case will cost or in some cases we may even be able to give you a guaranteed fixed fee.

Police Station

Most cases start in the police station and it is often said that many also end there. This may be literally if the detained person is released without charge or it may be metaphorically as a bad decision at this stage can doom an otherwise winnable case. That is why all of our staff that who the police station are accredited to do so. We provide a 24 hour on call service 365 days a year. Getting representation at the police station could not be easier; if you are at the police station just tell the custody sergeant that you would like to speak to us or if you are trying to get help for a loved one who is under arrest, contact us and we will do the rest.

Magistrates’ Court

This will be the first court most cases visit. Our aim is to put our clients at ease by preparing them for every stage in proceedings. We are greatly helped in this by clients contacting us as soon as they are aware of the need to attend court. We know how stressful a court case can be for a layperson and how tempting it can be to put your head in the sand. Seeing a solicitor can be a bit like going to the dentist; we all know it is for the best but are frightened and so put it off for as long as possible but know that the quicker we deal with these problems the less painful it normally is.

Crown Court

The Crown Court deals with the more serious cases, less serious cases that the client chooses to have dealt with by a jury and appeals of decisions of the Magistrates Court. A lot of people who have not seen a Crown Court in action can be intimidated by what they have heard or seen on television. In reality there is little to be afraid of and at Usmani King we can help to demystify the whole process. We have Crown Court specialists with years of experience who will be able to deal with every aspect of your case.
